Aurélie Gomez and Chris Burton on the podium
He belongs to the most faithful riders of Le Grand Complet. Since his senior debut, Camille Lejeune has made it a mmust-stop of his calendar. And it’s rare for him to leave without a ribbon. This year, it is even the winner’s trophy that he brings back to his stable in Rouvres (Eure-et-Loir). “I got Good Size des Quatre Chênes lastyear,” says Camille. “Thisis the half brother of Averouge des Quatre Chênes (ridden this weekend by Mathieu Lemoine, 5th in the CCI2*). I had already bought a horse at this farm at the end of 2016. I always kept them informed of its evolution in competitions, then I sold it and I was looking for another horse. There was Good Size ridden at the time by a Belgian rider, Chloé Raty. She didn’t get along too much with the horse. Its breeder asked me if I wanted to try it, I agreed to take it on trial a month … and he’s still in my stables!” (laughs) Catherine Defoy, the breeder and owner of Good Size follows her protégé on all competitions.”From the moment we take good care of her horses, she accepts all our choices. I’m lucky to have her as the owner. I hope to keep her stallion next year to take him to the World Young Eventing Horses Championships because I think he has the capacity to do it. He is not a stallion, he remains focused, and on the contrary, being a stallion gives him strength.“Next goal: the French National Young Eventing Horses Final in Pompadour and the Critérium of 6-year-old horses.”It was a beautiful editionadds Camille. We had a very good ground, it was quite unexpected. There is good soil nature but it is very dry everywhere. Yet it was perfect. The ground has been well worked, and this quality has led me to enter several horses here.“
